Lawn care where salt air thins the grass
Lawn care on a salty coastal lot starts from the grass the quoted guide names. That guide is about coastal Tampa Bay. It does not issue a Pinellas County ordinance, and this page will not pretend that it does.
The Tampa Bay sod guide says seashore paspalum handles salt air, brackish soil, and tidal flooding that thins standard St. Augustine.
It attributes a home-lawn mow of roughly a half inch to two inches to UF/IFAS. It does not state a Pinellas County buffer.
If salt is thinning your lawn, send the request. Florida Lawn Care Hub replies by email.
What the quoted page says
The guide says this about salt and about mowing height:
Seashore paspalum sod handles the salt air, brackish soil, and tidal flooding that thins standard St. Augustine across coastal Tampa Bay. Standard St. Augustine and Zoysia carry only moderate salt tolerance, so they fail in the pattern we see on nearly every coastal site walk. It wants a low mow. UF/IFAS recommends keeping home lawns between roughly a half inch and two inches, which usually means mowing more often and, at the low end, a reel mower (UF/IFAS ENH 897).

| Standard St. Augustine and Zoysia | Only moderate salt tolerance, and they fail on the coastal walks the guide describes |

What was not measured
The guide does not state a Pinellas County buffer, a fertilizer distance, or a price. This page did not test your soil for salt and did not measure how far spray reaches.
Questions the quoted page can answer
Which grass does the guide say handles coastal salt?
Seashore paspalum. The guide says it handles salt air, brackish soil, and tidal flooding that thins standard St. Augustine across coastal Tampa Bay.
What mowing range does the guide attribute to UF/IFAS?
Roughly a half inch to two inches for home lawns of that grass, which it says usually means mowing more often and, at the low end, a reel mower.
Does that guide state a Pinellas County buffer?
No. It does not state a Pinellas buffer, a fertilizer-free distance, or a fee. A coastal lawn in Pinellas can still be the subject of the request if salt is thinning the grass.
